Project Brief

Atrium was retained by a multi-state gas LDC to support an ambitious effort to align its tariff structure across its multiple jurisdictions. Atrium provided insights from other gas LDCs on tariff and rate design strategy, structural approaches, and regulatory tactics to support and inform the client’s own tariff alignment strategies.

CHALLENGE

A gas LDC client was interested in aligning its tariff structure across multiple jurisdictions utilizing “best-of-breed” industry strategies. The challenge included identifying the most effective rate mechanisms, regulatory structures and enabling legislation across the industry that could be successfully proposed and implemented in the client’s operating jurisdictions.

EXPERTISE

Atrium utilized its knowledge and expertise and conducted detailed research to produce a benchmarking study that identified a variety of options for the client to consider. In addition to identifying the most effective tariff strategies, Atrium also focused on recommending a path forward that had the highest likelihood of receiving regulatory approval and successful implementation.

OUTCOME

Atrium delivered its benchmarking study and recommended the components of the study that should be prioritized and implemented as part of the client’s tariff alignment effort. The work product was successfully integrated into the client’s planning for the next phase of the project.
